With a number of cult classic movie soundtracks being posted, I've decided to include one of my own personal favorites that unquestionably should be apart of any "Best Of" horror soundtracks list.
Released in 1977, Suspiria is an Italian horror film directed by Dario Argento as the first installment of his "The Three Mothers" horror trilogy. The film has since become a cult classic and has been referenced many times as residence of some of the "scariest" and "most-violent" movie moments, but arguably eclipsing the film is its unique and preeminent soundtrack. In an age with so many uninspired horror soundtracks that read more like a collage of radio singles that don't advanced the movie in any way; gems like Suspiria are exceptional.
Once again, Italian progressive rock group, Goblin was given the task to pen the soundtrack for the Argento film after previous working in concert on the film, Deep Red. Despite releasing a LP entitled Roller, Goblin would, in the end, be best recognized for the score of Suspiria and Zombi Original Soundtrack (Dawn of the Dead)

Great choice. I was considering posting this as well as a few other Italian horror soundtracks before I decided to go with the "modern monsters" angle. I was half-expecting Psyche Zenobia to post this also since he is a big Dario Argento fan.

Amazing soundtrack indeed. I just recently watched The Mother of Tears and it encouraged me to dig out my Suspiria LP and play it again.
