With all of my attention focused on the big move that I am about to make, I almost forgot that this month marks the 3rd anniversary of the blog. Although three years isn't a long time in the real world, I consider this a major accomplishment for a music blog, as they tend to come and go like the wind. I have witnessed numerous blogs either abandoned by their owners, or shut down after being reported. Even blogs that exclusively share out of print content have fallen victim to this and decided to call it quits as a result. It's rare for a music blog to last more than a couple of years, and I'm thankful that DM has been one of the few.
Running this blog has been a great experience for me. I have learned more about music than I ever thought I would, thanks to all of the visitors who have left comments, as well as the people who have participated as guest bloggers. I have also been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet people from all around the world, which has to be one of my favorite things about running this blog.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped make it possible to keep DM going these last three years. First and foremost I want to thank all who have visited this blog during that time. I'm sure if I would have kept my hit counter up it would have passed the one million visitor milestone a long time ago. I do this for all of you, for without your presence there would be no point in sharing music. I also want to thank everyone who has contributed here throughout the years. You know who you are. You all have helped keep this blog going during the most difficult times in my life, and the blog wouldn't have been able to last this long without your help.

ReplyDeleteNot meant as sour grapes, but just to reinforce what an accomplishment longevity is in the blogworld, this Tuesday past was my two year mark & not a word from a visitor, so I'm hanging it up.
I'll have more time to guest post here to do my part at keeping things going, so be forewarned.

ReplyDeleteNØ: I'm sorry to hear that. I can't say that I've been able to regularly visit your blog lately, especially with all the chaotic things going on in my life recently. However, if I didn't think that you did such a great job there, I would have never invited you to post here. I hope that you'll reconsider calling it quits, but if not I certainly welcome your contributions here as long as you are willing to stick around.
