Welcome

elcome to the Digital Meltd0wn Music Blog. The aim of this blog is to introduce the readers to music that is out of print, commercially unavailable, released under a creative commons license, or with approval by the featured artist. The majority of the music posted here would be considered underground. Don't let that fool you into thinking that the music featured here might be any less enjoyable than that of the mainstream artists you hear on the radio, as this couldn't be further from the truth. Please keep in mind that the majority of the artists that appear on this blog, along with their respective record labels, are not wealthy and need your support. If you enjoy the material that you find here, please support the artists/labels by purchasing their material afterwards. If you are an artist/label that would prefer to have your material removed from this blog, simply leave me a comment, and I would be more than happy to promptly remove the offending post. In addition to running this blog, I also work on a few other projects during my spare time. You can find links to those, as well as a few other important links associated with Digital Meltd0wn in the menu bar above.

Graphic Design Contest - Sponsored by Sir Reel Films & Trinity Comics

Deadline: Only 1 day left!

Update: I've decided to up the ante a little bit by adding $50.00 in cash, and free advertising, to the winner of the prize package, in hopes that it will increase the number of entries.

I've also created a flickr account to host all the banners that have been submitted to the contest. To view them click here

I'm proud to announce that Sir Reel Films and Trinity Comics are sponsoring a graphic design contest for Digital Meltd0wn. I'm constantly looking for new ways to improve this blog, and I've decided that it's time to replace the plain text header with a well designed banner. Since my graphic design skills are sub-par, I am leaving it up to the professionals to come up with the new look for Digital Meltd0wn. What I need is one banner for the Digital Meltd0wn music blog, and one small button. Sir Reel Films and Trinity Comics are offering a very generous prize package to one lucky winner. The winner of the contest will recieve the following:

The Prize Package

1 Signed Copy of The Wraith Movie on DVD
1 Signed Copy of The Wraith #0
1 Signed Copy of The Wraith #1
1 Signed 8x10 Glossy The Wraith Movie Poster
1 Certificate of Authenticity
Free Advertisement on both DM Blogs
Music Blogs Stats - Blogroll Stats
$50.00 (US Dollars)

All signed material will be signed by Actor David Cooper and Director Stephen J. Semones. The two comic issues will be signed by the comic creator Frank Dirscherl.

Contest Rules

1. Design a banner and button using the existing color scheme for the Digital Meltd0wn music blog.

2. The banner does not need to be a specific height or width, but it should be no wider than the existing header on the Digital Meltd0wn blog. The button needs to be 15 pixels in height and 80 pixels in length. The button can read either 'Digital Meltd0wn' or simply 'DM'. Both images need to be in either JPG or GIF format. It is not necessary, but if you would like to include PSD files, I would be very greatful.

3. The deadline for all entries will be December 31, 2007. Please include all files in a .zip or .rar archive and e-mail them to to dmcontest@hotmail.com Please be sure to include an e-mail address that I can reach you at should your entry win so that I can contact you about where to mail the prize package.

One winner will be chosen by myself, and once the winner is declared, all prizes will be shipped promptly to the winner by Director Stephen Semones of Sir Reel Films. If you have any questions please e-mail me at dmcontest@hotmail.com and I will respond as quickly as possible. Let your imagination run wild and may the best gfx artist win! I would like to thank Sir Reel Films and Trinity Comics for helping to make this contest possible and for offering up such great prizes to the winner. Please visit their websites and help to promote two great independent companies.

Yep, you're fine. But hurry, you wouldn't want to miss out on the chance for such a great amount of prizes :)

Radiolux: Yes, you still have till Dec. 31st I had to set the post date to Dec. 30th so it would stay visible. Otherwise every time I posted a new album it would get bumped down.

Raysun: Hey Jeff.. It's good to see you again. I've been thinking about starting another DM forum. However, this time I wouldn't be able to pay for hosting. I still have all the backup settings and posts from the old DM forum.

Hi there, from what you have posted on flickr, I'd say entries 1, 2, 6 and 9 are the ones to watch for. 6 has a very nice clean and simple look going for it; 2 is similar, but more ordinary and less minimalist in approach. 1 is playful as is 9, where 1 probably works better because of a better overall balance in the image / less empty space and a better match between font type and imagery... bah, just rambling. Hope you got lots more submissions, and curious to see which one you're going to choose. Rock on.
