elcome to the Digital Meltd0wn Music Blog. The aim of this blog is to introduce the readers to music that is out of print, commercially unavailable, released under a creative commons license, or with approval by the featured artist. The majority of the music posted here would be considered underground. Don't let that fool you into thinking that the music featured here might be any less enjoyable than that of the mainstream artists you hear on the radio, as this couldn't be further from the truth.
Please keep in mind that the majority of the artists that appear on this blog, along with their respective record labels, are not wealthy and need your support. If you enjoy the material that you find here, please support the artists/labels by purchasing their material afterwards. If you are an artist/label that would prefer to have your material removed from this blog, simply leave me a comment, and I would be more than happy to promptly remove the offending post.
In addition to running this blog, I also work on a few other projects during my spare time. You can find links to those, as well as a few other important links associated with Digital Meltd0wn in the menu bar above.

Sgt. Petsounds is a phenomenal mashup of the Beach Boys "pet sounds" and the Beatles " Sgt. Peppers" albums. Matching track for track, this is an incredibly complex mashup that combines the two albums in some very clever ways. I have listened to this mashup countless times, and I never get tired of it. I would advise listening on headphones (at least the first time). Sgt. Petsounds was created by Clayton Counts and released on his blog. It became a huge success in short order and Clayton received a cease and desist order from EMI records shortly thereafter. Clayton removed the release from his blog, but it lives on via many other music blogs and torrent sites. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I have.

Now that looks interesting! Hey, stop by and say hi sometime Michael Zer0.
What a trip. I started listening on my computer speakers, but I decided that this is definitly head-phone material, so it'll be my soundtrack on the way to work tomorrow. Big thanks!
Thanks! Disorientating, occasionally queasy, but, like the best mash-ups, it forces re-consideration of the originals. and has moments of weird beauty which draw on neither source album. Wonder what Brian would make of it.
I listened a cuple of years ago but i wan't impressed, I will give it a 2nd try
I'm not very impressed. I don't think it's as bad as "wittybob" says here, but not so much better...

Other people had better reactions. Here's a track-by-track review that makes quick work of some of the usual complaints, and manages to be critical of the record while giving it credit for its innovation. Most of the friends I've played it for have liked it, especially if they have a jazz or noise background.
"Wittybob" probably had every reason to dislike the Beachles, but he obviously wasn't its intended audience. To anyone who knows anything about digital music production, the Beachles stands out as an idiosyncratic mess, but not without merit. Clayton Counts himself acknowledges how difficult a record it is.
Nice try - but ihs guy needs go learn a little about music - especially timing, key, and pitch.
Otherwise it's just a mess. sorry.
Key and pitch are of minimal importance. Seriously, when you say he "needs go learn a little about music," you must be joking. He's a multi-instrumentalist who's created the longest pieces of music in history, many of which are very much in tune and in time.

I recommend you listen to #39, among others. The Beachles is unlike any other remix. There are some amazing moments that are quite skillfully brought into tune, and some others that are deliberately out of tune but still intricately assembled. He's also done remixes that are indisputably in tune and in time, some of which came years before the Beachles.
Mr. Counts is one of the most important composers of our time. It may not please you, but it's not really up for debate. Sorry.
i saw that guy play in chicago last week. he done a long breakbeat mix that was dope. im' not a big fan of this mix but he definitly got skill....
love it.
