Welcome

elcome to the Digital Meltd0wn Music Blog. The aim of this blog is to introduce the readers to music that is out of print, commercially unavailable, released under a creative commons license, or with approval by the featured artist. The majority of the music posted here would be considered underground. Don't let that fool you into thinking that the music featured here might be any less enjoyable than that of the mainstream artists you hear on the radio, as this couldn't be further from the truth. Please keep in mind that the majority of the artists that appear on this blog, along with their respective record labels, are not wealthy and need your support. If you enjoy the material that you find here, please support the artists/labels by purchasing their material afterwards. If you are an artist/label that would prefer to have your material removed from this blog, simply leave me a comment, and I would be more than happy to promptly remove the offending post. In addition to running this blog, I also work on a few other projects during my spare time. You can find links to those, as well as a few other important links associated with Digital Meltd0wn in the menu bar above.

William S. Burroughs - Thanksgiving Prayer

I intended to post this earlier in the day, but I didn't have any spare time before the Thanksgiving proceedings started. This is a 1988 recording of William S. Burroughs reading "Thanksgiving Prayer". I can't say that I completely agree with Burrough's cynical view of "Turkey Day"; nevertheless, I happen to like Burroughs, and this was the only Thanksgiving related media I could think of that I would be willing to post. Despite being dealt a bad hand this year, I have a lot to be thankful for. I would also like to thank those of you who visit this blog, especially those who take the time to leave comments and communicate with me.

Thanks for the wild turkey and the passenger pigeons, destined to be shit out through wholesome American guts.

Thanks for a continent to despoil and poison.

Thanks for Indians to provide a modicum of challenge and danger.

Thanks for vast herds of bison to kill and skin leaving the carcasses to rot.

Thanks for bounties on wolves and coyotes.

Thanks for the American dream, to vulgarize and to falsify until the bare lies shine through.

Thanks for the KKK.

For nigger-killin' lawmen, feelin' their notches.

For decent church-goin' women, with their mean, pinched, bitter, evil faces.

Thanks for "Kill a Queer for Christ" stickers.

Thanks for laboratory AIDS.

Thanks for Prohibition and the war against drugs.

Thanks for a country where nobody's allowed to mind their own business.

Thanks for a nation of finks.

Yes, thanks for all the memories - all right, let's see your arms!

You always were a headache and you always were a bore.

Thanks for the last and greatest betrayal of the last and greatest of human dreams.

about the first thing Burroughs wrote that is... well coherent at least.

Let's see what else ol' Will had to be thankful for:

-the family fortune that allowed him to live a life of dissolution
-the lack of public knowledge that he shot his wife to death
-a publisher for his incomprehensible `novels'
-editors indulgent enough to let him rant and rave, even when it was clear that he was completely senile

I'm sure there must be a few other things

Great One! Bill Lee is one of my fav aoutors. I watched "Drugstore Cowboy" 20 times, the scene with Bill's dialoge is an epic.

How you going frend? Whats up? Peace from Russia.
