Thirty years ago, a haunted house movie called The Changeling played in theaters and went largely ignored by audiences. It was undoubtedly overshadowed by The Shining and Friday the 13th, but there is something those two films lack that The Changeling has: George C. Scott. I swear, the man had such screen presence. He could turn a piece a crap movie into something watchable. The Changeling is a good movie, but Scott elevates it to great. The film has garnered a loyal fanbase over the years, thanks to cable TV.
In 2001, the now defunct Percepto Records released the score in a limited edition of 1000 copies. After it sold out, they started getting a lot of requests for a reissue. In 2007, the Deluxe Edition 2 CD was released as a limited edition of 1000 copies and it too quickly sold out. For the Deluxe Edition, they opted to include all of the music recorded for the film, including a few source cues. So, on the first disc you get all the music in the film, and on the second disc you get a handful of alternate takes, and unused pieces.
The music is by Canadian composers Ken Wannberg and Rick Wilkins, with a small contribution by British composer Howard Blake. This score is absolutely beautiful and haunting, with gorgeous piano and string arrangements. It performs really well in the "creep you out" department, too. I really love this album and I highly recommend it to all fans of horror scores, and classical music in general. I decided to include a link for the excellent album art. I'd like to request the FLAC version.
Music file is missing one cue: "2. Piano Source (00:57)" is nowhere to be found, and tracks from disc 1 are misnumbered. Any chance of getting this track?

On a side note, I've been extremely sick the last couple of days, hence my lack of posts. Considering there are only 8 days left till Christmas, I intend to ride out whatever I've come down with and put up as many posts as I can. I'm a little disappointed though, since it has already become obvious to me that I'm not going to have time to share everything I had in mind. Regardless, I think we have all shared an amazing array of horrifying material so far.
@Badactorinky: I see what happened. I copied the track listing from soundtrackcollector.com and their listing is incorrect. There is only 29 tracks on the first disc. I'll correct the post.

@Zer0_II: I'm sorry to hear that you are sick. That's a bummer. I usually always get sick at some point during winter, but so far I have managed to avoid it this year. My new method is this: If I am around people at all during the course of my day, or I eat food that was not prepared by me, when I get home and before bed I do saline water nasal spray. Bacteria don't stand a friggin' chance against sodium.
