Welcome

elcome to the Digital Meltd0wn Music Blog. The aim of this blog is to introduce the readers to music that is out of print, commercially unavailable, released under a creative commons license, or with approval by the featured artist. The majority of the music posted here would be considered underground. Don't let that fool you into thinking that the music featured here might be any less enjoyable than that of the mainstream artists you hear on the radio, as this couldn't be further from the truth. Please keep in mind that the majority of the artists that appear on this blog, along with their respective record labels, are not wealthy and need your support. If you enjoy the material that you find here, please support the artists/labels by purchasing their material afterwards. If you are an artist/label that would prefer to have your material removed from this blog, simply leave me a comment, and I would be more than happy to promptly remove the offending post. In addition to running this blog, I also work on a few other projects during my spare time. You can find links to those, as well as a few other important links associated with Digital Meltd0wn in the menu bar above.

VA - 30 Seconds Before the Calico Wall

In the ongoing chronicling of obscure '60s garage band singles, Arf Arf delves into the super psychedelic side of the equation with 28 utterly amazing 45s culled from the late '60s. Best future Trivial Pursuit rock & roll question is served up on "I Want to Hold Your Hand" by the Moving Sidewalks, featuring a young Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top on guitar. Other highlights include "Speed" by Ron Wray, "Once Upon a Taste" by the Omen, and "Steamshovel" by Marshmellow Steamshovel. This is one trippy little flashback that truly delivers the goods.

Great stuff indeed! Thx Zer0!

BTW; a while back you posted these 3 great psych comps:

A Deadly Dose Of Wylde Psych
A Lethal Dose Of Hard Psych
An Overdose Of Heavy Psych

I'm lookin' for the last one in that "series", the album called:

A Heavy Dose of Lyte Psych

Any chance you got it or can it? Would be marvelous :)

Hey Toxxy. Glad you liked 30 Seconds. I'll see what I can do about getting A Heavy Dose of Lyte Psych. I haven't been able to get it yet myself. I'm waiting for a user on DC++ to come online. I know he has it, and as soon as I catch him on I'll grab it. I'll shoot you a message on skafunkrastapunk whenever I'm able to get it.

P.S. I'm looking for the album which preceded this one, 'Before the Calico Wall'. If anyone could find it I would be greatly appreciative.

Both of you should go and check the Chocoreve's archives from November 2005. You'll find what you're looking for.

@Jeronyme

Thanks a million. I'm grabbing 'A Heavy Dose of Lyte Psych' right now. I was also able to find Beyond the Calico Wall. I wasn't even aware of this blog, so thank you for making me aware of it. There's a lot of great stuff on there, especially obscure compilations of 60's underground.

There's quite a lot of files deleted, sadly. But still a lot to pick.

Four of the tracks (2, 11, 12 and 14) on 30 Seconds are cut short.

Cheers indeed for the tip Jeronyme :) It ain't everyday you see 17 months old links alive...impressive! Goin' to Chocoreve right now!

@keithl

I'll check into the tracks that were cut short. I don't believe that the original files are cut short, but it may have occurred during the upload process.

Hi zer0. Since you said you were looking for the CD "Beyond the Calico Wall," I felt I should let you know that I happen to have a copy of that CD. If you'd like me to upload it for you, please let me know exactly what to do because I'm not familiar with the uploading process. Thanks!

P.S.: Keithl was partly right, three of the tracks on the upload of this CD (specifically tracks 2, 12, and 14) are indeed cut short. If that can be rectified, I think we'd all greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
