Welcome

elcome to the Digital Meltd0wn Music Blog. The aim of this blog is to introduce the readers to music that is out of print, commercially unavailable, released under a creative commons license, or with approval by the featured artist. The majority of the music posted here would be considered underground. Don't let that fool you into thinking that the music featured here might be any less enjoyable than that of the mainstream artists you hear on the radio, as this couldn't be further from the truth. Please keep in mind that the majority of the artists that appear on this blog, along with their respective record labels, are not wealthy and need your support. If you enjoy the material that you find here, please support the artists/labels by purchasing their material afterwards. If you are an artist/label that would prefer to have your material removed from this blog, simply leave me a comment, and I would be more than happy to promptly remove the offending post. In addition to running this blog, I also work on a few other projects during my spare time. You can find links to those, as well as a few other important links associated with Digital Meltd0wn in the menu bar above.

Thanks for shareing! Do you by any chance also have Volume 7 & 8?

Zer0_II said...

I don't have volumes 7 & 8. From what I understand those volumes didn't come until later, and initially only 1-6 were released. I'll see what I can do about finding volumes 7 and 8 and getting them posted here.

Yeah, I think Vol. 7&8 were released 8 to 10 Years after the original Volumes. Thanks again for ripping! I hadn't listened to these albums in ages.

There's a torrent for the first 4 albums with far better sound quality. These downloads are roughly 64 kbps, the torrentfiles are about 224 kbps. But thanks for volume 5 and 6!

Thanks for the torrent link. Sometimes I completely forget about the quality of the audio on the material that I upload. I use DFX audio enhancer and it makes everything sound so good that there's not much of a difference between low bitrate audio as long as the original recording was decent. I'll try to grab the first four volumes and reup them. Unfortunately there's only one seeder now and they aren't online, so I might not have any luck with that.

Re: "Volume 3 includes the trio of songs based around the Surfin' Bird phenomenon, including Mama Oom Mow Mow and The Bird's The Word by the Rivingtons and Surfin' Bird by The Trashmen."

One of the things I enjoy about these compilation albums is the ability to do miny research projects for the artists. Some are easily accessible (Roy Orbison, Ricky Nelson, Tommy James) but the others are hard to find, eccentric types. I have hours of fine exploring the artists who plague me with these earbugs.

As far as the Bird, if you ever here the other side of that Rivingtons record, "Papa Oom Mow Mow," I think it's another link to the "Surfin' Bird" story. It sounds closer to the Trashmen rendition than "Mama..." does.

Thanks for posting these. As far as I'm concerned, these should be manditory and passed out to anyone interested in 20th century pop music.

Is it possible to re up the vol 2 - 6 as they have been deleted due to inactivity.

Anonymous: I'll re-up volumes 2-6 as soon as I finish uploading all of the Sixties Archives volumes. I'm really suprised that the links are down due to inactivity. The Born Bad series generated quite a bit of interest at the time it was posted. I supposed that's what happens after it has been buried down so far.

Track 8 from volume five seems to be missing...has this been a problem for anyone else?

Nice one! I bought volumes 1 & 2 on vinyl upon their release but I never knew the series continued, certainly not as far as 8!

The link for downloading "Born Bad, Vol. 4" seems to be broken. The page that it sent me to doesn't even use a western alphabet.

Thanks much for the great music!

Given the current unavailability of this series, i love being able to grab the volumes I do not have on LP (sigh, remember them).

But what I would REALLY appreciate is someone ripping the series as high-quality MP3 or OGG files. Or even better, ripping it as FLAC files. And if the resultant mass of files is large, making it available seperately by volume, so we could choose which volumes to download.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for these. Can you please re-up volume 4? Mass mirror says the file doesn't exist for some reason. The rest of them downloaded fine.

Thanks for this amazing series (as well as "songs" bellow, but that I already knew)! I can't understand people complaining about the bitrate__ if one wants quality, go buy it. Of course I prefer a 320kb than a 66kb, but what the hell, this is about sharing and discovering new stuff...

Anonymous said...

Hey, I can't download vol. 3 and 4, can you re-up them, please? Thanks in advance!

'THINK' ALL The *links* for these "BORN BAD"'S are 'broken'/down..

Zer0_II said...

@Andy Rampage: I hope you can appreciate my honesty, but it may be a while before I reupload these. Right now my focus is on the Halloween Countdown, but I will reupload this as soon as October is over. Perhaps someone will be kind enough to reupload it in the meantime. I barely have enough free time at the moment to get my posts up for the Halloween Countdown, otherwise I wouldn't mind taking care of it now. I hope you understand. Take care.

Zer0 My HERO!!
So SORRY mate..i didn't EVEN take into account that you were already preoccupied with: "The Halloween countdown"!!

My attitude was, as always with my requests here, that YOU will: "GET around to them.. when YOU (can) GET-around to them..
didnt MEAN to come-across as any kind Of: "RUSH-JOB".. even though i have been 'ON' a REAL 'CRAMPS TEAR' lately!!
wheneve YOU Can mate.. will BE MORE than pleasingly acceptable!!
Cheers

@Andy Rampage: I was trying to reupload these for you today, but I encountered a bit of a problem. Right before I was about to add the files from Vol. 1 to the rar archive I happened to notice that the bitrate for these files was only 64kbps, which seems unusually low. I wouldn't normally even bother posting something of such low quality, which leads me to believe that perhaps the files I uploaded for this post were accidently deleted? I'm trying to find and download the volumes in higher quality for you, but so far the best I've managed to come up with is 128kbps.

I know there is slim chance of anyone who has already downloaded this returning to view the comments of this post, but if any of you happen to see this could you please tell me what the bitrate of the files you downloaded is? Andy, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I will try to resolve the problem as soon as possible.

Re Born Bad vol 6 - the artwork lists "R.Lewis Band doing Get Off The Road" but the download has "Ric Cartey doing Oo Ee Baby". Is there some reason for this? Is it a mistake ?

NØ said...

to dmblackwell,

Good catch after all this time. The ric Cartey song "Oo Ee Baby" is really the first track from Born Bad Vol. 7.

Here is a link & Decryption code to the R. Lewis tune...
