elcome to the Digital Meltd0wn Music Blog. The aim of this blog is to introduce the readers to music that is out of print, commercially unavailable, released under a creative commons license, or with approval by the featured artist. The majority of the music posted here would be considered underground. Don't let that fool you into thinking that the music featured here might be any less enjoyable than that of the mainstream artists you hear on the radio, as this couldn't be further from the truth. Please keep in mind that the majority of the artists that appear on this blog, along with their respective record labels, are not wealthy and need your support. If you enjoy the material that you find here, please support the artists/labels by purchasing their material afterwards. If you are an artist/label that would prefer to have your material removed from this blog, simply leave me a comment, and I would be more than happy to promptly remove the offending post. In addition to running this blog, I also work on a few other projects during my spare time. You can find links to those, as well as a few other important links associated with Digital Meltd0wn in the menu bar above.

13th Floor Elevators - The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators

13th Floor Elevators - The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators
Update: I've re-uploaded this file as requested. I'm not sure what the problem is, but most of the files that were hosted on gigasize are no longer working. For some strange reason they are still active, but the files have changed into small 1kb files. I've sent an e-mail to the gigasize admins to inform them of the problem, and hopefully they will be able to restore the files, or fix the problem. On a good note... It looks like I'm back permanently. Everything went well with court and I don't have to go back till May, and my internet service is working once again. You can look forward to regular updates once again.

There are few albums from the early stages of the psych movement that sound as distinctively trippy, and remain as pleasing

A very welcome memory of the 13th Floor Elevators. Such a short career.
A fine blog, and a great downloader - Gigasize is really doing the job.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad that you are enjoying the blog. It's nice to know that there are people who are regularly visiting it, and it encourages me to keep going. I'm glad that you like gigasize also. My goal is to eventually be able to get enough points (1 for each download) to get a lifetime premium account on gigasize. I only need 45,500 more people to download an album lol. I wish that everyone didn't use rapidshare to host files. The hour waiting period between downloads wouldn't be nearly as bad if I could just download an album hosted elsewhere, but it's hard to find anything good that isn't hosted on rapidshare. I haven't even checked to see if there was a waiting period between downloads for gigasize. Would someone care to let me know about that?

I see ...it's an amplified jug. the Spacemen 3 faithfully recreate it on their Rollercoaster cover.

Hi Zer0

Just found this blog, and really appreciate your work and the great music here. I'll do my best to get you to that 45.5 K downloads on gigasize lol. I haven't noticed a waiting period yet.

This is the first time I've checked out 13th Floor Elevators after seein'em around for awhile. Some great garage style psych, 'specially the live stuff.

But i dunno bout "the first band ever to have psychedelic sound". My first album (other than Beatles, Kinks, et. al.) was Freak Out by FZ & the Mothers, also in 1966. It's hard to top "Help I'm a Rock" or "Return of the Son of Monster Magnet".

Thanks again, bluesmutt

Thanks for the reup and glad everything worked out for you! I believe giga does have a limit, like megaupload, where you can only dl so much from the same ip per day. It's a high limit though, and since not that many people use it, i don't usually reach the limit. I'll try to remember to look the next time.
